Jake Tapper is an American journalist, television host, and author who was born on March 12, 1969 in New York City. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Tapper is the son of a teacher and a chemical trader father.

 

After completing his undergraduate education at Dartmouth College in 1991, Tapper began his career in journalism as an editorial cartoonist for the Washington City Paper. He then moved into television as a producer and reporter for a local television station in Washington, D.C.

 

In 2003, Tapper joined news station ABC News as a correspondent for the political department. During his time at ABC, he reported on key events such as presidential elections, terrorist attacks and wars abroad. He also hosts the weekly political show “This Week with Jake Tapper.”

 

In 2013, Tapper joined CNN as the Principal Washington Correspondent and hosted the news program “The Lead with Jake Tapper.” He also hosted “State of the Union,” in which he interviewed political leaders and discussed major issues affecting the United States.
